Today's Painting, "Reverie" by Gordon van Vliet
Today's painting, "Reverie" by Gordon van Vliet was oil paint on canvas 16"W x 20"H. She was a fun model to paint, a very sweet girl. As she relaxed into the pose her disposition became thoughtful. What does a model think of when being painted by several artists?
I particularly like the back ground of this painting, the vase, flowers and pedestal. I will do a small amount of work to her face... add warmth, perhaps a little more cheerful and reduce the strength of her fore leg. Her arm will be a little thicker.
Begun on Wednesday past.

She is looking fine so far, I like the leg as it is, agree about the rest. I wonder what models think about too, maybe the next meal? Lori
Lori, thank you for coming by and adding your input.
Nice tones in the face and neck Gordon, nice supporting colors, the whole painting feels right; I like the way you have illuminated the focus area! JLC
Thanks Jon, I hope to finish this in a few days.
Nice to meet you,
Great art!
Hugs from Brazil,
Nice job! This one reminds me of a Degas painting.
Thanks Peter. I guess I am going to get a Degas book out of the library and see how strong a connection there might be.
I agree. The vase with flowers is just right especially the greens with lighter forms just over the rim of the vase.
