"Princess in Red"

Original is 16" x 20" and this is a cropped portion. Oil on canvas.

Here again is JJ, the model who appears in my last post, "Princess in Blue". I like this one better than the first. What do you think? Here she wears a soft glowing and luxuriant red sweater that suites her so well. Intelligent composure as she gazes in the distance. I wonder what she was thinking about.

B. Moquin, ah what can I say my friend. I am so glad to have brought back for you happy memories. I am still thinking how to do the final cropping before I make that one available. Thanks again for all the friends you have told and other support over the past year.

This comment came in,
". As an art instructor, I say excellent work. Are you an R.I.T. graduate.?
In Virginia, much foliage and camellias for inspiration. Ahead of NY for
weather. Keep painting....................E"

Thank you "E" so much for the compliment. I did not attend RIT. I had considered their School for American Craftsman back in 1977, however, after interviewing the seniors in that program I opted instead to open my own company in 1980 after a couple of years work to raise the initial capital. Now, after may years, I have taken up the fine art of oil painting and I have studied with some of the local professional painters here in Rochester.

And also,

"wow another winner.....Judy"
Thank you Judy. I look forward to seeing the new work you have done, soon. :)

"Like the pose and reds in the second one...keep it up! Mike"
Thank you also Mike. I hope to work hard to improve over this coming season.

"Hi Gordon, I like both portraits, they are very well done. I do like the freeness of the first one, though. It seems brighter and lighter. The second is more formal but technically fine and more detailed. nice work! june"
Thank you June. I hope school is going well for you and I'd love to see some of your work also.

To all three above, it means much to me to have artists like yourselves, take the time to encourage and offer insight into my work. I wish you much success in your endeavors this spring. Gordon van Vliet
